USDOT (DOT) Number Decal Sticker Color & Font Options | Tips for Displaying Your USDOT Regulation Number Outside of Your Commercial Vehicle
Choosing to display your USDOT number is not optional but mandatory if you are operating a legitimate transportation or logistics company. With this being the case, there are a few guidelines for you to follow if you are displaying your USDOT number and other important numbers such as your MC, GVW, KYU, CA or any regulation number applicable to your business.
Font: You want to select a font that is easy to read at first glance. We recommend strong authoritative block fonts such as Bebas Neue, Arial Black & Times New Roman. Displaying your USDOT registration numbers makes it easier for when you are stopped by DOT or go through truck scales.
Color: You want to display your USDOT number using a color that contrasts the color of your commercial vehicle, you want to make sure your number stands out and is visible from at least 50 feet away. If you have a white truck, you want to display your USDOT number using a black or navy color. If your truck is dark, you want to use a white, or any light color.
To Remember: You must remember that your usdot lettering must be at least 2 inches in height and placed on both sides of your power unit. You can play with different fonts and colors just make sure it’s clearly legible. You want to avoid script fonts or colors that match the color of your commercial vehicle.
